Village Band @ Or Emet’s Yiddish Shabbos, 11/21

Or Emet, the Minnesota Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, is hosting a Yiddish Shabbos the evening of Friday, November 21. Following a short shabbos service, Or Emet has invited the Village Band to play a dance set!

When: Friday, November 21. Brief shabbos service starts at 7:00 p.m., music & dance will go to about 8:30 p.m..

Where: Minneapolis JCC Sabes Center, 4330 Cedar Lk Rd S, Minneapolis, MN 55416.

What to Expect at a Jam:

We are all learning together;

This is a space for learning and celebrating Yiddish culture and klezmer music in community. We’ll learn parts by ear and have the opportunity to look at sheet music of traditional klezmer tunes. We may learn some Yiddish lyrics to sing or or some Yiddish circle dancing!

In the jam, there is room for singers, percussionists, musicians, listeners, dancers, everybody.

Bring an instrument if you play, or bring a book and just enjoy the space. All levels of engagement are welcome!
